National Resources
- NPI Registry Search – NPPES NPI Registry (CMS): find a provider’s National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, specialty and practice address. An NPI does not by itself prove a provider is licensed.
- DocInfo – Federation of State Medical Boards: search physician licensure and state medical board actions across all states.
- OIG Exclusions Search (LEIE) – U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General: check whether a provider is excluded from Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs.
- Is My Doctor Board Certified? – American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS): verify whether a physician is board certified and in which specialty. Board certification is separate from state licensure.
