Balance over Burnout: Smarter Time Management for Sustainable Success

The legal profession demands precision, urgency, and constant responsiveness. Over time, that pressure can lead to exhaustion, disengagement, and declining performance.

This session addresses burnout from both a practical and professional perspective. Participants will explore the warning signs of emotional and cognitive depletion, understand why legal environments are especially vulnerable to chronic overload, and learn structured systems for managing time more effectively.

The program introduces practical tools for prioritizing work, organizing tasks, protecting focus time, setting realistic deadlines, and communicating boundaries in high-pressure environments. It also examines the role leadership plays in preventing burnout and creating sustainable workflows.

Designed for legal professionals at all levels, this session provides strategies that support performance, protect well-being, and promote long-term career sustainability.

Ren Mason is a paralegal who works directly with Vinson Law‘s attorneys and local counsel to support all stages of the litigation process across multiple jurisdictions. She also reviews and drafts settlement and release documents, prepares affidavits for bankruptcy trust claims, and serves as a point of contact for prospective clients. In addition, she assists with the development of internal SOPs and guides for the litigation team.

Monifa Grant got her start in the legal field while still in high school. She gained work experience through the Office of the Territorial Public Defenders on the island of St. Croix and later on with the Department of Justice, also on St. Croix.  While pursuing her college degree, she worked in law firms in downtown Tampa and even worked as a manager for a solo attorney.  While assisting an Asbestos Paralegal, she fell in love with the profession and ultimately became a paralegal within the same firm.  Monifa has worked in a wide variety of areas of law. A career highlight was being part of the team that successfully handled a well known trade dress infringement case.  Things came full circle as she now works as a Paralegal and a Manager of a team at Vinson Law which specializes in asbestos bankruptcy trust claims.  Monifa oversees the process alongside the attorneys to make sure things move forward smoothly and correctly and plays a key role in guiding families through what can often be a sensitive and complex process.  Outside of work, she focuses on spending quality time with her three children and family.
